Match report 6th of April 2002 Cwmbwrla park
What a match! Fielding 3 under 12s the under 13s took the field against an excellent Landore Colts team hoping to at
least finish runners up in the division.Treboeth lined up with a back five containing the 3 under 12s and set about their
game plan restricting Landore to the minimum of attacks which didnt dent the Treboeth resolve not against the run of play
Treboeth took the lead with an excellent individual goal by Matthew Symonds.Landore seemed to be shocked by the goal and tried
to get back in the game with sometimes some good football
but were lucky not to go 2-0 down when the strong Matthew Symonds should have scored when it was harder to miss.Landore
then gave the goalkeeper no chance with their equaliser.Again Treboeth had the never say die attitude and missed yet another
good chance and if it wasnt for the excellent play of the sweeper and right back for Landore could easily have been 3 up .Fortunatly
for Treboeth the second wasnt long coming a corner taken from the right was swung into the box bobbled on a few heads and
fell to the bubbly Shane Melville who didnt hesitate with a sweet left foot half volley which gave the excellent Landore keeper
no chance at his near post.Landore again looked stunned and set about attacking the Treboeth goal without really troubling
them, but did hit the post with a good direct free kick but Treboeth were good value for their 2-1 half time lead. The second
half started but now with Treboeth with a strong wind behind them never looked trouble for the whole of the half and easily
increased their lead with again Matthew Symonds latching on to a long ball and slotting home .Summing up Treboeth easily deserved
the win catching Landore with an excellent allround performance well above their league position suggests Landore can have
no complaints .
After the problems around the under 13s season with hammerings and players going this result is a testament to the players
and committee who have stuck at it and shows great fighting spirit which only bodes well for the future of Treboeth Utd,
TREBOETH!!!!!
